Name change notice: The Application formerly known as NewRoads is now named Unterra. Both names refer to the same Application operated by the same Company, and this Privacy Policy applies equally to either name. References to "NewRoads" in earlier versions of this Privacy Policy, in the App Store listing, or within the Application should be read as references to "Unterra."
This Privacy Policy describes what information We collect when You use the Service and how We use it. In short: the Application does not collect Personal Data such as Your name, email address, or location. The only information We ever receive is (1) anonymous, aggregated crash and diagnostic data, and (2) subscription and purchase transaction records from Apple's App Store and Google Play, both described below. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Application refers to Unterra (formerly known as NewRoads), the software program provided by the Company.
Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Privacy Policy) refers to Unterra (formerly known as NewRoads), operated by NPDesigned LLC.
Country refers to: Texas, United States
Device means any device, such as a phone or tablet, that can access the Service.
Diagnostic Data means anonymous, aggregated technical information such as device model, operating system version, Application version, and crash or error reports, which cannot reasonably be used to identify You.
Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual, such as a name, email address, or precise location history.
Service refers to the Application.
You means the individual using the Service.
Unterra is designed to work without an account and without sending Your personal information to Our servers. Specifically:
We never sell any of Your information — location, profile, or otherwise — to third parties.
The only information We ever collect or receive is anonymous usage and diagnostic data, generated automatically as You use the Application and transmitted to Our analytics processor, PostHog (described further below). This data is tied to a randomly generated identifier rather than to You personally, and does not include Your name, email address, precise location, exploration history, display name, or profile photo.
This anonymous, event-level data may include:
We use this information solely to understand crashes and errors, monitor the health of the Application, and improve its features. We do not use it to identify You, build a profile of You, or for advertising purposes, and We do not sell it.
Retention. Anonymous analytics and diagnostic events are retained for up to 24 months, after which they are deleted or retained only in further aggregated form.
If You purchase a Pro subscription, Apple (for App Store purchases) or Google (for Google Play purchases) sends Us a server-to-server notification whenever a subscription event occurs — for example, a new purchase, renewal, cancellation, expiration, price change, or refund. We use this information to keep a record of subscription revenue and to help Us investigate and process refund requests. This information may include:
What is not included. These notifications do not include Your name, email address, payment card number, billing address, or any other information that would let Us identify You personally. They are tied to a transaction identifier or purchase token issued by Apple or Google, not to an Unterra account, since the Application does not have accounts.
Retention. We retain subscription and purchase transaction records for as long as necessary for revenue and financial record-keeping and to resolve refund disputes, consistent with applicable accounting and tax requirements.
We do not sell this information, and We do not use it to identify You or build a profile of You beyond tracking the transaction itself.
We use PostHog, a product analytics service provided by PostHog, Inc., to collect the anonymous usage analytics and diagnostic information described above. PostHog acts as a processor and handles this information solely on Our behalf and in accordance with Our instructions; it is not permitted to use the information for its own purposes.
PostHog processes this information on its United States cloud infrastructure (us.i.posthog.com), so it may be processed outside of Your state, province, or country.
Your choices. The Application does not currently provide an in-app mechanism to opt out of anonymous analytics collection. You may stop all collection by discontinuing use of the Application and deleting it from Your Device.
You can review PostHog's privacy practices at https://posthog.com/privacy.
iCloud syncing is off by default. If You choose to turn it on, Your exploration data and profile information sync across Your own devices through Apple's iCloud/CloudKit service, under Your Apple Account. This is a service between You and Apple; We do not have access to, and never receive, data stored in Your iCloud account.
If You subscribe through the App Store, Apple sends Us App Store Server Notifications about Your subscription. If You subscribe through Google Play, Google sends Us Real-time Developer Notifications about Your subscription. Both are server-to-server notification services operated by Apple and Google, respectively, and both are how We receive the Subscription and Purchase Data described above. Apple and Google act as the merchant of record and handle Your payment directly; We do not receive Your payment details through these notifications.
These notifications are governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy practices, which You can review at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Because the Application does not collect Your name, email address, location, or other Personal Data, there is very little of Yours for Us to secure. The limited anonymous diagnostic data We receive is handled by PostHog's infrastructure, and the limited subscription transaction records We receive from Apple and Google are held only for revenue tracking and refund handling. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and We cannot guarantee absolute security, but We do not hold Personal Data that would be at risk in the event of a breach.
Because We do not collect Personal Data, We generally have none to disclose. In the rare event We are required to do so by law or in response to a valid request by a public authority, We would only be able to provide the limited anonymous Diagnostic Data and Subscription and Purchase Data described above.
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 16. Since the Application does not collect Personal Data from any user, it does not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under the age of 16. If You are a parent or guardian and believe Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us so We can investigate.
